  • a little update (the beginning of my music life in london)

    well so ytd i finally got to meet my classmates and teachers
    there were around 22 of us, and quite a lot are doing the part-time course
    we are divided into 4 streams: Music MA (general), ethno, composing for moving images and performance
    im pretty sure most of them are in the composition stream
    anyway after the induction, the lot of us went to a nearby pub called The Arc for a chat
    and we had (some) free drinks! cos we were given a token thingy to exchange for a beer/cocktail
    it was nice talking to them
    apart from england, they came from spain, new york, brazil, italy, israel and so on..
    just a large cultural mix
    oh and someone realised there's only 5-6 girls in our class @@
    but its gonna be fine, i know =)
    looking forward to next week's lectures

    today i went to guildhall for a voice placement audition. they are to assign me to a teacher after distinguishing my voice type.
    yes i am doing a degree at city, it's just that i'll get a voice teacher from guildhall =D
    the 'examiner' was Mr. Armin Zanner, deputy head of vocal studies at guildhall. (he's quite young lol)
    after he heard my sing, he explained that my voice is on the lighter side, so he was thinking of assigning me to a teacher who does more of early mus, baroque, mozart stuff and a bit of contemp mus.
    that's exactly what i had in mind! =)
    but im not going to reveal her name here, since it's not a done deal
    i wonder when they'll confirm everything.. hmm..
